Go for a walk by the cliffs

If inspiring views is what you’re looking for, we’ve got plenty of them close to the Coworkvilla house. Here is a video of just one of them, only a 5-minute walk from the villa by the fortress, overlooking Cabanas Velhas Beach towards the East and with views of Salema towards the West.

28th Oct. – 4th of Nov. 2016

Cabanas Velhas

Join us for 7 nights/8 days with up to 10 like-minded professionals.

Location. Cabanas Velhas is a small resort in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The villa is only a short walk from Cabanas Velhas beach, which has a nice restaurant and a comfortable bean bag seating area where you can relax and listen to live music.

Boca do Rio beach is also close by, located beneath rugged cliffs and an old fortress.

The fishing villages of Praia da Salema and Burgau are only a short (very cheap) taxi drive away. Salema in particular is well known for its restaurants, many of which are sea-facing. Occasionally we take our laptops there to work from a restaurant’s wifi, or to watch the fishermen as they bring in their catch.

Weather. This event coincides with Portugal’s Indian summer so do pack your bathing suit. Even if it’s cooler than usual the pool and top level jacuzzi are heated.

5+ reasons why you should register for a Coworkvilla retreat

Coworking is all about community. One that inspires, and provides opportunities to learn from others. In that spirit we’re offering very special prices for our inaugural event.

Join us from October 28 – November 4, 2016 with prices starting at €60 (£52) per night.

Stay in a beautiful villa with views of the sea and countryside. WiFi for work, a heated pool for relaxing…

And if that is not enough, here are 5 more reasons why you should join us.

A place to unplug

What sets us apart from other coworking retreats is first and foremost the location. Set on the south coast of the Natural Park of the Vicentine Coast in the Western Algarve in a sea and countryside setting, Coworkvilla is lucky enough to offer their guests a unique location. Due to very strict building regulations, the unspoiled Western Algarve has escaped the monstrosity of mass tourism. Instead, it attracts those seeking authenticity, secluded bays and vast empty beaches, protected nature and the charm of white-washed villages both by the sea and in the serene hinterland. The peacefulness of the landscapes, the smell of the sea and the blue skies will help you both recharge, find focus and inspiration for your work and personal projects.

A place to holiday

The Germans say “first work, then pleasure”. Others may prefer it the other way round. We’ll treat you to an unforgettable stand-up paddle boarding tour along the beautiful coast so you can use other limps than just your fingers (on the laptop). But apart from that, at Coworkvilla we let you choose how to plan your days. And when you are ready to enjoy the holiday side of the stay, we’ll be here to make sure you’ll have the best time of your life. A massage on site? A surf lesson on the west coast? Sightseeing? An unforgettable mountainbike tour in the hinterland and along the rugged coast? Not a problem! We know the best people and prices in the area so you can be sure to make the most of the activity. We’ll organise it back to front so you can focus on your work (or tan?) instead off spending time researching and planning activities.
And if you’re more of a beach and book bum, we fully support it if you just want to laze in the hammock, relax in the jaccuzi whilst enjoying the seaviews or tan by the heated pool (even in the winter!)

A place to get work done

Coworkvilla provides you with the perfect setting to connect with other passionate people. Whether you just want to take your work to a different scene, are looking for a space where you can solidify your startup idea with the valuable input of other like-minded professionals or want to focus on a personal project you never seem to take the time for back home, this is the perfect place to be creative and productive. Here you can brainstorm with like-minded coworkers from different professional backgrounds and nationalities, share knowledge and skills and have inspiring conversations.

A place to indulge

The Portuguese like to eat and spend long hours at the table talking. And at Cowokvilla we follow this way of life by offering a mouthwatering welcome BBQ, healthy, filling breakfasts to feed the mind to get you started for your day of coworking and activities, a mid-week Portuguese tapas dinner, wine & cheese sunset session on the breathtaking cliffs of the west coast and a surprise Portuguese good-bye dinner. We will also have two nights booked in some of the best Restaurants in the area so you can taste some more delicious specialties prepared by local chefs.
Ah, and you may find some fresh Portuguese pasteis de nata (custard tarts) on the kitchen table in the afternoon. We look forward to spending many hours at the table with you over nice food and wine and in good company. Isn’t this how the best ideas come about?

A place with a mild climate

We hate to rub it in, but when most countries in the Northern Hemisphere start to get cold and rainy, the Western Algarve, bordered by the south and west coast, continues to boast a mild, mostly sunny climate throughout autumn, winter and spring. This is when we hold our coworking retreats so you can escape the bad weather and soak up on some vitamin D. Winters in the Algarve are perfect for picnics on the beach and instead of snow, the countryside is covered in the white almond blossom in February. In the evening, we’ll settle down in front of the crackling fire, maybe with a nice port, chocolate and a game of cards? Our retreat running from the 28th of October to the 4th of November 2016 will be held during the Portuguese Indian summer. So make sure you pack your swimming suit together with you laptop, tablet and smartphone!

What can you expect from your coworking holiday with Coworkvilla?

Cabanas Beach view

Cabanas Beach and Coworkvilla venue inaugural week October/November 2016

We’ll start with a welcome BBQ on the first evening, so we can all get to know each other.

The first morning we’ll have a short coworking session in preparation for the days ahead.

Then it all depends on you. When you need to work that is respected; when you have time to relax there are activities to choose from.

You could start your day with a jog to the beach or surrounding countryside, or a swim in our heated pool. Then join the others for breakfast on the terrace. At this point you know each other, and what your specialties are. Others may have questions for you and you may have questions for the designer, writer, developer, or translator, for example.

Next, check your emails and then, if there’s nothing pressing, retreat to a lounger to catch up on your accounting or read. Otherwise find a spot that appeals — outside on the terrace or inside the villa — and get to work.

For lunch make yourself a sandwich or go to the beach-side restaurant for a snack and break. Maybe one of your coworkers can give their opinion on a problem you’re trying to solve?

In the afternoon it’s either back to work or perhaps you’re taking part in a group activity?

If it’s tapas night that evening we’ll relax at the villa with food and wine. Who knows what brilliant ideas may come out of conversations at the table with your new friends?
