1. Where should I fly to?
Faro is the nearest airport at approx. 100 km away. You can also fly to Lisbon and get a train or coach with wifi connection down to Lagos.
2. How can I get from the airport to the villa?
We’d love to pick you up, but being in such a beautiful place and away from it all means, well, that we’re away from it all. 😉
Depending on the number of participants it is therefore not viable to pick everyone up individually. However, once all flights are booked we’ll take everyone’s arrival times and assist you in finding the best way to get to our location. Taxis are approx. €80 in total for 1-4 people. Shuttles cost approx. €17 per person, but can take a bit longer. We can, however, pick you up from the nearby town of Lagos.
3. How do we get around the area once we’re in the villa?
The event starting on the 28th of October will be held in a villa with 2 beaches at a short walking distance (approx. 5 and 10 minutes). There is also beautiful countryside and cliff top trails to walk, hike or jog around.
If you want to visit nearby villages and towns taxis are very cheap to get around in the area. Especially if you’re sharing.
We will also be available to help out and give you a quick ride if you need to visit the supermarket, etc. Or, if you’re an active kind of person, you can rent a mountain or road bike.
4. What if I want to arrive or leave earlier/later?
If you find a flight for a different date that is more convenient or simply want to spend more time in the Algarve (we don’t blame you), then we can help you find accommodation in the area.
If you’re flying into/from Lisbon, be sure to ask us for suggestions on where to stay/what to see/where and what to eat.
5. How are shared twin rooms allocated?
We make sure that we only book villas with comfortable sized twin rooms. For the event starting on the 28th of October, each twin room has its own ensuite bathroom.
We only put coworkers of the same gender in 1 room. But if you are a couple or a team of male and female who want to share a room you can book a twin room together and specify who you’re travelling with in the application form.
6. Can I specify my preference of room?
Yes, you can do this on the registration form. Preference will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
7. What is the weather going to be like?
We are lucky to have a very mild climate in the Western Algarve. We will be hosting coworking holidays mainly in autumn, winter and spring, when the weather tends to be cold and grey (sorry!) in the North of Europe and in most places in the Northern Hemisphere, and mild and mostly sunny on this tip of the “old continent”.
On sunny days in the winter you can sit comfortably in short sleeves in the sun. Evenings tend to be cooler in the winter (and perfect for lighting a cosy fire). However, it does rain occasionally in the Algarve. We will keep you updated with the weather forecast when it comes to packing your bags for your coworkation.
8. How are meals organised?
Breakfast is provided daily, as are snacks. You can help yourself to the snacks in the fridge or cupboards whenever you feel like it.
A welcome BBQ, mid week tapas, farewell dinner, and wine and cheese sunset session are included in the price.
We will also have two nights booked at good restaurants in the area (not included in the price). On the remaining nights, we suggest that people take turns to cook in teams. Maybe specialities from their country/region or a simple pasta dish (groceries not included in the price). We can give you a lift to the supermarket or local markets to pick up supplies.
9. Will my dietary requirements be catered for?
When you are confirmed for an event we ask if you have any food allergies or dietary preferences. That way everyone has what they need on a daily basis in the fridge, and no one has to miss out on the organised dinner nights.
10. What activities can I take part in?
Whatever you’d like. It depends on your personal schedule, which is why we haven’t filled the week with organized activities.
This area is a paradise for outdoor and watersport enthusiasts. Some of the activities on offer are surfing, kayaking, wakeboarding, SUP, rental bikes, mountain bike tours, yoga, and more. Let us know in advance or when you get here, and we can arrange it for you.
Or maybe you’d just like to wander through the streets of old towns, and sip on a galão (milk coffee served in a glass) in a café? That’s good, too.
